Generate your own energy. Renewable energy technologies like solar panels, small wind turbines, and biomass heaters are becoming increasingly popular. |

Petition to: assess RESPONSIBLY the health impacts of wind turbines and set a minimum set back distance of 2km. In response to a recent petition about minimum setback distance from wind turbines , the Government's reply used old surveys carried out by Hayes McKenzie, a firm of accoustic engineers deeply embedded in the wind industry. Unsurprisingly, the outcome was a foregone conclusion: there are no problems. This was highly irresponsible of the government. Hayes McKenzie are not health specialists so asking them their opinion on the impacts on turbines is as meaningful as asking David Beckham to comment on quantum physics. It's also a bit like asking the poacher to turn game keeper. The methodology adopted by the Government should have been to embrace the work of medical experts actively engaged in dealing with the harmful effects of living in close proximity to wind turbines: sleep depirvation, vibro-acoustic disease and wind turbine syndrome. I call upon them to investigate the full impact without an a priori agenda to determine an outcome favourable to their deeply flawed energy policy, and to act in the best interests of the citizens of this country who are forced to live next to industrial sized turbines. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/WindFarmHealth/
2 Kilometre Buffer Zone This is an online e-petition requesting the Prime Minister to establish an automatic buffer zone of at least 2 km between any new industrial-size wind turbine and any home. You can sign the petition online here.
Devon Status Quo Following the failed bid by Exeter for Unitary status the Government requested the Boundary Committee to carry out a review of local government in Devon. They have put forward a suggestion for a Unitary Devon. They advise that the status quo at this stage isn't an option. However the present two tier system with enhanced working between all councils in Devon can and should be supported by Local Government Minister Hazel Blears when she makes the final decision in January 2009. If you support the present two tier system of local government continuing here in Devon please sign this petition. NOTE: Should this proposal go forward, it would mean that the planning decision for the propsoed turbines would be taken in Exeter and NOT at local level. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/devonstatusquo/ - Petition Closed |
