After the CAT website was found by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, they wanted to hear our side of the story and why people like us are protesting about wind farms in the UK.
Dr Harry Riches, the CAT spokesperson, held a live radio interview with The Morning Show to explain that whilst turbine plans in Canada are being planned in remote areas, the UK, in comparison, is a small and densely populated island and they are being proposed too close to people. Filmed in Holland, this video shows how bad shadow flicker can affect properties located too close to a wind turbine.
Whilst not as pronounced as the previous video, this shows the effect where the sun is low in the sky behind turbines. The property here appears to be located some distance away from the turbines, yet is still impacted by shadow flicker.

The first action group meeting of the newly formed CAT (Chilla Against Turbines) was held last night (Monday 14th July 2008) at Halwill Junction Village Hall, following the successful public meeting just two weeks ago. So strong is the opposition to the proposed turbines that 35 local residents from all the villages which would be affected by the proposed wind farm, including Highampton, Black Torrington, Chilla, Halwill, Northlew and Beaworthy have volunteered to form the action group committee whose aim is to formulate a strong case for the opposition of the siting of the huge industrial wind turbines. |
