"Anyone who thinks that wind factories are environmentally friendly should Google 'Cefn Croes Photo Gallery', to see 100 chilling pictures showing how many miles of unspoiled Welsh countryside were disfigured to create the largest industrial site in Britain: all to 'save' annually less than a quarter of the CO2 emissions from a single jumbo jet."

Christopher Booker, Telegraph

Generate your own energy. Renewable energy technologies like solar panels, small wind turbines, and biomass heaters are becoming increasingly popular.

The first action group meeting of the newly formed CAT (Chilla Against Turbines) was held last night (Monday 14th July 2008) at Halwill Junction Village Hall, following the successful public meeting just two weeks ago.  So strong is the opposition to the proposed turbines that 35 local residents from all the villages which would be affected by the proposed wind farm, including Highampton, Black Torrington, Chilla, Halwill, Northlew and Beaworthy have volunteered to form the action group committee whose aim is to formulate a strong case for the opposition of the siting of the huge industrial wind turbines.

The group already have their own website, www.chilla-against-turbines.co.uk which hosts a vast amount of information about the proposal and also about alternative forms of renewable energy in general and it is already proving an invaluable marketing tool.  Just today, the group’s spokesperson carried out a live radio telephone interview for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, who had seen the website and who are interested in the campaign.  Many other wind turbine opposition groups have been in contact via the site and it is proving an extremely useful way of sharing information and keeping up to date with all the other campaigns currently underway in Devon.
