Stop Turbines on the Peninsula (STOP)
|
"The only reason why it pays developers to build turbines is the huge hidden subsidy we all give them through our electricity bills. The electricity companies are compelled by law to buy the energy from these turbines at nearly twice the normal price - and then pass on the extra cost to us." Full story here |

| The STOP campaign has come into being to fight the erection of six giant, industrial, wind turbines on the Ellerside / Stribers ridge line. With a height of 125 mtrs (410 ft) to blade tips they will overlook and dominate the beautiful medieval village of Cartmel and surrounding valley to the east, and the stunning Greenodd sands and village and panorama of the Lakeland fells to the west. |
