Quotes

"The only reason why it pays developers to build turbines is the huge hidden subsidy we all give them through our electricity bills. The electricity companies are compelled by law to buy the energy from these turbines at nearly twice the normal price - and then pass on the extra cost to us."

Our company has developed a vertical axis turbine which is specifically designed to be placed on rooftops within an urban environment, for example a turbine or a series of turbines placed on top of a flat roofed building such as a hospital or a school, could generate sufficient power to satisfy the needs of that building and generate an income for the Health Board or Local Authority.

Proposed “Glenmorie” Windfarm PDF E-mail

A large American corporation has applied for permission to build a 2,000ha wind farm, with 43 turbines up to 125m high, in the hills of Ardross overlooking Strath Rusdale. They plan to take pylons 17 m high through the heart of Ardross. The site belongs to recently arrived banker-absentee landowners and the like. This massive proposed windfarm would destroy a large tract of wild land and be highly visible from the iconic hills of Cnoc Fyrish and Ben Wyvis and from the Dornoch Firth National Scenic Area. It is very close to golden eagle breeding grounds. And it straddles the ancient 50 mile walking path to Ullapool.
The Ardross community is fighting this proposal, but desperately needs support from others who know and love the Scottish Highlands. If you have time, please use the link to our website:
